What are Bargeboards?

Forming part of the roof trim, bargeboards serve an aesthetic function by creating a smooth, even appearance on the edge of the roof. Like fascias and soffits, bargeboards can be purchased in a range of colours and profiles.
Old timber bargeboards can be fully removed and replaced with new UPVC bargeboards. This is the choice many homeowners have decided to make because plastic boards have a much superior visual appearance and are virtually maintenance free.
A bargeboard is a fascia board fixed to the apex section of a roof. Plain uPVC bargeboards are no different to uPVC fascia boards and although they have different names they are often identical.

What is a fascia board and soffits?

The fascia is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. Fixed directly to the roof trusses, the fascia is usually doing all the work of supporting the bottom row of tiles and carrying the guttering. Tucked away under the fascias, a soffit board is a covering between the outer edges of a roof and the adjacent wall of the house. Like fascias boards, soffits play an important role in preventing moisture damage to a roof as well as the house it sits upon. The soffit can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area. Without adequate ventilation, condensation will form in the roof void increasing the risk of timber decay. Fascia boards and soffits are often part of a property that gets neglected, yet they play a key role in both the appearance and the protection of your home.
In addition to serving an aesthetic function by creating a smooth appearance on the roof edge, fascia boards also protect the roof and the interior of the house from weather damage. Manufactured from high quality, maintenance free uPVC for guaranteed, long-term protection; all our fascia and soffit boards are made to last.

What are Box Ends?

The purpose of a Box End is to protect the rafters within your roof construction; neglecting it could lead to water damage and lead to the need for further maintenance. It also reduces the number of joints that would appear on traditional timber roofline methods.
CSM will construct bespoke box ends to fit the roofline of your property, matching the uPVC profile of your chosen fascias, soffits & bargeboards to provide an aesthetically pleasing way to enclose the area joining the fascia and bargeboard.

What is Dry Verge?

Dry verge stops unwanted draughts, water and animals to enter the roofspace. These are the areas at the edge of your roof (above the bargeboards), which traditionally have a cement infill to hold your tiles in place and prevent water damage as well as birds and animals entering the roof space.
Dry Verge installations provide the only permanent maintenance-free solution to the problem of tiled edges on roofs. Our roofline experts fit the latest uPVC Dry Verge systems, suitable for weather-proofing almost all types of tiled and slated roof edges. Our quality uPVC products provide additional fixings for ultimate protection, ensuring a permanent and completely secure edge to your roof.

What is Roof Cladding?

Many properties have areas clad in wooden boarding. Whilst largely decorative, roof cladding must be maintained if it is to retain its cosmetic appeal and add value to your home.
Timber cladding on the exterior of your house will require continual re-painting and despite regular maintenance, it will still inevitably rot away from the inside out. Rotten wooden cladding can be a source of penetrating damp into your walls and ceilings.
Replacing your old timber cladding with new maintenance-free uPVC cladding will immediately enhance the look of your home and save you the money, time and hassle of on-going maintenance.
